SUMMARY:Nyla Innuksuk presents Slash/Back (2022)
DESCRIPTION:Media innovator Nyla Innuksuk presents her debut feature Slash/Back, a teen horror film, set in Pangnirtung, Nunavut, featuring local actors and a host of slithery aliens. Starring Tasiana Shirley, Alexis Wolf, Chelsea Prusky, Frankie Vincent-Wolfe and Nalajoss Ellsworth, the film centres around a group of pre-teen girls who fight off an alien invasion in the remote Arctic community. \n“Slash/Back is a genre-mashup that remains authentic in its portrait of a community, infusing elements of horror and sci-fi with Inuit folklore as the girls recognize in the aliens the mythological beast Ijiraq, who preys upon children.” Pat Mullen, Complex Canada\nNyla Innuksuk in Person\nTuesday, October 25, 2022 \n2:30 PM \nNat Taylor Cinema (Ross N 102, York University)\nFREE\nRegister HERE ( https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/nyla-innuksuk-tickets-438964282987 )\n\n
