SUMMARY:World Water Day 2022: A Solutions-Driven Workshop on Climate Impacts on Freshwater: In-Focus knowledge-exchange dialogue.
DESCRIPTION:The impacts of climate change and ecosystem degradation are experienced by local communities regionally and around the world. These experiences are exacerbated by underlying social inequities. World Water Day is an opportunity to contextualize research that sheds light on these experiences against the backdrop of global efforts to boost ambition on adaptation action, and strengthening inter-regional and cross-boundary adaptation to the impacts of planetary stressors (e.g., food systems, water, agriculture and fisheries, and energy) with special focus on human and environmental health.\nFor more information and to register for the event, please visit: https://www.yorku.ca/cifal/water-day/ ( https://www.yorku.ca/cifal/water-day/ )\nWorld Water Day 2022: A Solutions-Driven Workshop on Climate Impacts on Freshwater: In-Focus knowledge-exchange dialogue\nTuesday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to noon\nCo-hosted by CIFAL York and the Office of the Provost, in partnership with the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research, York University.\nConvenors: Sapna Sharma, associate professor, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science; and Idil Boran, associate professor, Department of Philisophy, Faculty of Liberal Arts &Professional Studies (LA&PS)\nProgramme\n9 a.m.                  Welcome from Lisa Phillips, Provost and Vice-President Academic, York University\n9:05 a.m.            Welcome from convenors Sapna Sharma and Idil Boran\n9:10 a.m.            Keynote Speaker: James Orbinski, professor, director Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research\n9:30 a.m.            Short question-and-answer period\n9:45 a.m.            Session 1: Human and Environmental Health\nSpeaker 1: Daniel Olago, University of Nairobi\nSpeaker 2: Imran Ali, research fellow, Global Health & Humanitarianism, Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research\n10:15 a.m.          Session 2:  Engagement with Indigneous Communities\nSpeaker 3: Angele Alook, Bigstone Cree Nation in Treaty 8 territory; and assistant professor, School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, LA&PS\nSpeaker 4: Catherine Febria, Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research, University of Windsor\n10:45 a.m.          Short Question-Answer Period\n10:50 a.m.          BREAK\n11 a.m.          Session 3: Interactive Discussion in Moderated Breakout Rooms \nRoom 1: Health and Environment.
